Hello — my name is James Lawson. For over 30 years I have collected Japanese swords and fittings. I am deeply passionate about Japanese art, and have devoted much of my life to studying Japanese culture, aesthetics, and craftsmanship.

Each year I attend all the major sword shows, and I travel to Japan multiple times to deepen my knowledge and expand my collection. I’ve been very fortunate to meet many wonderful people in this hobby, and to have mentors whose knowledge far surpasses my own.

The study of Japanese swords and fittings is a lifelong pursuit, and I intend always to approach it as a student, no matter how long I study. This website serves as a repository of knowledge and, occasionally, a commercial outlet to share select pieces from my collection.
